Oh man someone in the tags on that post pointed out how easily she took griffes miraculous if they were seriously trying to take it from each other before then it probably wouldnt have been that easy
Yeah, but that was also the reason why that moment was so great. The special is consistently treating Griffe Noire the way it should the Black Cat: as the most dangerous chess piece on the board.
In the first Ladybug, Chat Noir and Hesperia vs Toxinelle and Griffe Noire battle while it isn't pointed out in dialog the narrative very quickly makes it clear that Griffe Noire is the biggest threat because our Ladybug is treating him that way, mostly focusing on him and he is straight up dominating everything, including his good counterpart Chat Noir.
Before the battle starts Toxinelle is commenting on how his approach of destroying everything isn't exactly subtle or clever and yet the narrative has no intention on hiding that he is this much of a threat level that he doesn't NEED to be subtle. Griffe Noire could nuke the city in 5 seconds if he wanted to, what exactly does HE need to be subtle for?
And then taht is shown by Griffe Noire immediately destroying parts of the eifel tower, chasing Hesperia away, and immediately followed up by summoning a massive cataclysm to force Hesperia into battling with them.
Griffe Noire DOESN'T NEED Toxinelle, he could win this shit in 10 seconds by engulfing the city or even Planet in his cataclysm and tell Hesperia to give him his Miraculous or else he will kill them all and this entire innocent city/ planet.
Toxinelle is the one who has to constantly work her ass off and proof herself as villain to somewhat reach the normal danger level Griffe Noire has by default. Not even mentioning his danger level if Griffe Noire actually wanted to cause misery and destruction. She can't reach that. Her powers by nature can't keep up. She is the one dependent on him, but most importantly on him not acting on his full potential so she still has a chance winning this herself, and she's dependent on him NOT loosing his patience in putting up with HER.
That is the reason why the special included the little moment where in Marinette’s room Griffe Noire plays with the dolls and has the Ladybug doll say "I suck in every universe" and her only silently shaking her head and blocking him out, while he has the Chat Noir doll say "if only you were Griffe Noire, he's actually cool"
And that's why they had the moment of Toxinelle hiding in fear behind Griffe when the good akuma was send after them and she making him cataclysm it to keep both of them save bc since Tikki can't talk Toxinelle apparently doesn't know that she can stop the butterflies too. All while and DESPITE them yelling at each other and her being angry as hell at him.
The Paris special did the one damn thing I have been waiting for for YEARS to finally be able to give the Ladybug character the proper credit I have always wanted to give her.
The Paris special refused to nerf the hell out of the Black Cat/s and thats why Toxinelle taking his Miraculous from him so quickly is so fucking GOOD.
Not because she is "Oh so much better than him #girlboss style" - bc the normal female empowerment of this show for 4 seasons was nerfing Chat Noir to all hells the moment a female character breathed in his direction - but because Toxinelle and Griffe Noire have a very fragile dynamic in the sense taht the one who first attacks the other one for real started the war between them and Toxinelle was thank GOODNESS allowed to be characterized taht she KNOWS that she is the one in the natural disadvantage since Griffe is not above cataclysming and hurting people. Not even himself.
HE doesn't have to outsmart her, if he wanted to he could kill her in 2 seconds by summoning a massive cataclysm in her direction she can't escape fast enough.
Toxinelle is consistently characterized in the beginning to not only keep Griffe Noire in check power wise and keeping him thinking he needs her and her plans to not have him act on his full potential, she is also characterized by, yes, constantly poking the bear, but also by knowing when she should stop pushing it and swallow her pride bc she knows Griffe Noire loosing his patience with her is not something she should risk that easily.
The scene of her taking his Miraculous in 2 seconds isn't so amazing bc she defeated him so quickly in a 1-on-1 fight, the scene was amazing because Toxinelle prevented it from becoming a 1-on-1 fight she could loose in the first place.
She didn't take him down in 2 seconds because she's "that much stronger and better than him uwu", she took him down in 2 seconds because the narrative ALLOWED Toxinelle to be well aware that 2 seconds and this ONE TRY is potentially all she HAS to do this safely.
She didn't defeat him in battle, she was smart enough not letting the battle happen in the first place. Fucking THANK YOU, that's how the evil Black Cat SHOULD be treated and not what the show was constantly doing with Chat Noir prior to this for cheap empowerment that after a while stopped meaning anything bc Ladybug being "stronger" than Chat couldn't be credited to Marinette anymore it was merely a writing rule that stopped Adrien from ever being competent against Ladybug.
Toxinelle taking down Griffe Noire in 2 seconds by preventing the battle from starting in the first place IS the pay off for having Toxinelle be in the natural disadvantage against Griffe Noire. She had to constantly work her ass off and proof herself as competent and threatening villain by his side by constantly and forever planning smartly and cleverly playing every weakness she sees around her - INCLUDING Griffe Noire's to keep him as much in check as possible.
She was able to take his Miraculous in 2 seconds because she was always forced to be hyper aware of the tension in their dynamic and always be smarter than anyone else to keep up. Toxinelle found out that she could get her wish through taking Griffe's miraculous and she knew that this was the moment worth risking everything for.
So SHE was the one breaking their peace by stabbing him in the back in the most unfair manner, not even giving him a chance to defend himself, in the hopes that she would never have to face any of the consequences, including his potential anger and turning against HER.
But then it didn't work. She freed him, gave him his Miraculous back and lost all hope.
That moment of Griffe Noire comforting her meant so much more than people give it credit for. Toxinelle lost hope and didn't care anymore for a moment that she has theoretically given him every reason to turn against her the way she turned against him.
She was very much aware that he could have killed her here if he had wanted to bc of what she did, and she wouldn't have tried stopping him.
She let him touch her with his cataclysm hand but only pulled away when it was a gesture of COMPASSION.
All of this means so fucking MUCH and I've waited for this FOR YEARS, that the Black Cat is finally being utilized properly by the narrative to tell this kind of Ladynoir stories where Ladybug has to actually treat the Black Cat as the hyper dangerous threat he IS and cleverly comes out on top because the actual realistic strengths and weaknesses of the characters, the powers, and the unique circumstances and the partnership dynamic is being taken into consideration.

Pre-reveal, post-relationship lovesquare is so insane if you think about it. You have Adrinette who are in a happy committed relationship but are both internally panicking about the fact that they keep a secret identity hidden from their beloved boy/girlfriend. You have Ladrien, where Ladybug is pining away secretly for the boy she’s already dating and Adrien can’t understand why his heart feels weird whenever he’s around his good friend and partner (that he definitely doesn’t have unresolved feelings for). You have Marichat where Chat Noir is struggling not to show his heart eyes to his girlfriend, while Marinette is doing her utmost to make sure she doesn't tell him she still thinks about their kiss (for absolutely no reason at all). And then you have Ladynoir who keeps having arguments over who has the better boy/girlfriend and who loves them more and at the same time are certainly not feeling jealous because they are very happy for their partner to be in a committed relationship with someone who isn’t them, yep completely and totally happy...
WAIT HANG ON. imagine toxigriffe. before their identity reveal. but they ALSO get a jubilation moment. they’re screaming at each other threatening murder and arson and thievery and torture at all hours of the evil day but hesperia gets his hands on the pig miraculous and zaps them into a dream and they see themselves KISS and FALL IN LOVE and GET MARRIED and REPOPULATE THE CITY and ALL SORTS OF GROSS ICKY MUSHY LOVEY DOVEY STUFF until some other holder wakes them up or something they’re like AHHHHHH!!!!! EWWWWW and can’t look each other in the eye or even exchange the slightest insult for a whole week. and bc they don’t talk about it at first they convince themselves the other person had a Separate, Totally Unrelated Nightmare and it was just a PLOY of the evil evil hesperia but then they find out if u get touched at the same time it’s a SHARED DREAM and so they start fighting again but insisting it was THE OTHER persons dream like YOU want me that bad. do u tho. do u fr want me. yeah but NOT ME THO!! it was just YOU -> they then proceed to find out that the pig miraculous will target what you BOTH want from each other and it’s also your GREATEST DESIRE and they do not speak for several weeks
